Everything is possible. I am sure the guy who sells such sport cam shafts can exactly tell you how to tune the ECU and is not a simple Sell and Forget guy. In 912 you should re-tune carburettor with nozzles, in D-Jetronic you change some resistors. No problem for him. Just ask for the tuning manual.

Hi Lux Pierre,

max. Cam you can run with D-Jet is 262° WebCam with max. CR of 8.8:1 but not easy to adopt the D-Jet.
276° Schleicher would work much better.
If you don't want to spend a year or more to tweak your system, convert it back to stock!

Porsche 912 is L-Jetronic and the AFM can handle a slightly different cam better.

it is a good decision to reinstall the original camshaft.

I would prefer an engine that runs without everlasting corrections and problems, too.

Hi,

what I find disturbing is that this is now the second time that Porsche 914 owners come to this forum and ask for help and after 50 posts we learn that we are talking about a modified engine :Bang: . The other case was worse. Someone got his 1.7l engine modified to a 2l engine in Texas. And people in 914world claimed that that would run without any problems and laughed at me when I told that that needs even green instead of yellow injectors.

Good that you will now restore to original cam shaft. But next time please tell such facts up front.

I don't remember the MPS was checked... maybe it doesn't work at all or is totally misadjusted.
Did you check it?

Does it make any difference when you totally disconnect it from the vacuum line (close the line towards the engine)?

Yes, this means your MPS is adjusted badly and doesn't respond to the pressure conditions in the manifold as it should.

Removing the hose means 'full throttle' - the MPS shows the correct response, enriches the mixture.

Reinstalling the hose means higher vacuum, your MPS leans down the mixture much more than it should do.

Take a look at the compendium, look at the comments and the photos there, do a visual inspection: Has the MPS been opened, has anyone <mis>adjusted it?
