Hi jetronic familyI am thinking of buying the test machine in the picture for my W114 280E vehicle. What kind of things will the machine be useful to me?  Or is it of no use?Thanks Kerim falay

Hi Kerim,

it is an adapter you can plug between ECU and wiring harness. And it is a multimeter where you can follow instructions how to measure sensors. It also gives a hint on trigger contacts and injectors - not in detail but you will have an idea. It is very expensive, consider 1000€ for it. Many need overhaul before you can use them. I have several of these.

+ Easy to connect on ECUs in bad locations in cars
+ Measures on ECU connector including wiring harness
+ Mercedes/Bosch instructions let you test all peripheral in step by step
+ Can start fuel pump and injectors for verification
+ Can give you an idea of trigger contacts and injector operation
+ Can verify coils on MAP sensor

- Cannot measure ECU or detuned MAP sensors
- Trigger contact verification limited
- Does not help with ignition or engine mechanical issues

yes buy it if it is complete. But be prepared that devices that have not been used for a long time can cause some trouble with contacts. Go there with your car and connect it. Then you know.

Be aware that on kleinanzeigen.de many offers for EFAW 228 have been fake recently -> if you pay with paypal friends you could loose all your money. The picture from the original post was an example of a fraud attempt (pictures copied from web, in this case willhaben.at, where the real tester is offered for > 1000 € ).

So be careful before buying.

Es ist gerade mal wieder eine falsche Annonce bei kleinanzeigen.de drin, für 610€... Vorgehen immerähnlich: Kopierte Fotos und Drängen auf paypal FREUNDE... Also Augen auf beim Tester - Kauf... Grüße, Martin

das Spiel ist doch schon Jahre alt. Erstaunlich, dass es immer noch klappt. Wer einen EFAW 228 sucht, kann mich bei den Workshops ansprechen. Ich habe immer einen dabei.

ok, das wusste ich nicht. Als Neuling kann man da aber schon reinfallen, auch weil die Angebote nicht mehr offensichtlich als Fälschung zu erkennen sind. Die Accounts sind teils mehrere Jahre alt (also vermutlich übernommen), die Sprache ist fehlerfrei etc...
