W108 ecu

Dear Volker and friends

Do you know of anyone that can repair a w108 3.5 ECU? Or alternatively how to locate a replacement? I live in New Zealand.

Hi Hemal,

I am sure that you are aware that I can technically repair those ECUs. But not in NZ. Last time I was there was back in 1996 . I am not aware of anyone in NZ. Try to find a Bosch service and make them send it to Bosch Classic in Germany. That means a lot of awkward customs issues here in DE and maybe also in NZ.

I am not a service provider. And even if I was willing to do that I would not be able to import and reexport your ECU. German customs is very rigid and demands a company to do such a processmwith lots of bureaucracy. You need a company located in Germany that can import your ECU, pay customs and then reimport it after repair to you. SOmehow they will then pay customs and VAT on the repair costs. I do not know exactly. But I know that Bosch used to charge 40€ extra in such cases for all formalities.

The import of defective components from non-EU countries for the purpose of repair can be processed through customs as “Aktive Veredelung= active processing” with relatively low costs and without import duties.

It is important that the entire process is subject to customs supervision and must be declared BEFORE importation. I think Bosch Classic will be able to handle that.
