Citroen SM MAP sensor 0280100036 not working

Yes - I agree. It looks like someone has drilled inside the unit. The puzzle is only explained if I pull it apart.

I shall attack it with a blow torch and angle grinder later today.

well all you need to do is drill off the head of the rivets carefully, they are aluminum. That's how I open them. Later I cut in a thread for M5 screws.

The problem might now be with your MAP sensor that both the slotted screw with its special head and the thread in MAP sensor housing are ruined. If worst comes to worst also aneroid cells are destroyed by the force squeezing them. No wonder that your MAP sensor indicates maximum pressure and fuel need to ECU.

I dismantled the MAP sensor this evening. I also dismantled a 048 sensor from a Citroen DS 23 that wasn't holding vacuum.

Photos of the SM unit are below......it looks better than I thought. The cells seem to show blatant signs of wear or touching on one side over the other.

I might make one out of the two and reassemble.

Volker - is it worth shifting this thread (after the trigger issue) to a new thread indicating MAP sensors for easier future searches by others?

I have moved to a new thread. Now please mark both housings with coils and armature so that you always know which one is the right one. And please do not remove the coils. I propose you send me both MAP sensors like that With Chris's original MAP sensor I will be able to make one working one for you with the original back and the new front. I guess the old front is gone as the thread and screw are dead.

I can also insert proper 4 screws for you. The proper adjustment of the screw pushing on armature shaft is very sensitive.
