BMW auxiliary air system

attached is the aux air valve rom my d-jet bmw m30 motor. It is stuck open. Im soaking it now.

What are the two temperature switches? They connect to the FI wiring harness. The larger (vdo 150c) has a broken housing and id like to replace it..does anyone know a source? is it worth it to replace? I can get it connected with the broken housing. It would be great if you could not use forum introduction but for this question D-Jetronic to ask your questions. I move it now.

• Left broken temperature is not a switch but a thermo time switch from VDO with a number like 36/2/x . Could be the same as MB but I do not know for how long it is supposed to open at -20°C. That is printed on it. It should have an upper limit of 35° where it shuts off. Pease read those numbers and tell here. EWverything is described in my compendium.
• right is the cooling water temp sensor 0280130014
• And your AAV is 0280140018 and should be hard to get in the US. It also has a special air filter.l

Hi,

a used AAV will most probably also be stuck. In my experience it does not help to do ultrasonic cleaning. They are stuck from oil residuals, leaking cooling water and can even be badly corroded. Additionally the expansion element gets weak. Bosch does not supply new ones. Check BMW themselves or get it overhauled. Hoptefully it does not look like this 0280140018 inside:
