Hi Damion,

I've just checked that you can use 0280100025 on both ECUs. Should you still have 0280001002 ECU, it must be replaced.

Hi Dr-Djet.

I just found out that i also have the wrong MAP sensor in my car. I have the 0 280 100 111 (white sticker E) in my W114 250 CE car. But i found out with the help of your list that this is a MAP sensor for a 280 CE car.
I have a ECU 0 280 001 004

1) what is the correct map sensor the 0 280 100 006 or the 0 280 100 006 FD905 ?
2) what should i notice with this wrong MAP sensor while driving in my car?

Greetings Marc

Hi Marc,

for many years 02800011111 was the "universal" MAP sensor used everywhere as replacement for any broken MAP sensor by workshops. Why? Well it was used in W114, R/C107, W116 in many M110 engines. So it was cheaply available and till today is still one of the cheapest MPS to buy used from market. But of course it is wrong to replace a different MPS with this one. When I started many years ago and would point out that such a replacement was wrong, workshops would laugh at me and call me a theoretical boy while they had their practical experience. Well today they have silenced and accept my knowhow.

Every MPS is basically of type1, 2 or 3. Then we have curves in each MAP sensor. Basically linear with defined slope per MPS. 0280100025 and 0280100012 are of same type 2. That means full-load is done via diaphragm in MPS. But curves do not match. Now in your case Marinus is is even worse. Your car needs a full-load diaphragm type 2 MPS to give full-load enrichment. But you have a type 3 MPS that has no diaphragm and is for a car with a full-load switch in throttle switch.

Basically you can make any car run in idle with any MPS. You can correct wrong signal via idle-run rheostat. But you cannot adapt it in part-load and for sure not in full-load. So you will pass exhaust examination but in real life you will either burn too much fuel - which costs you more than proper MPS - or run too lean and risk your engine by overheating. Good idea? For sure not !

That is why Bosch designed so many different MPS. Sometimes it is minor changes and I can detune one MPS to have another MPS curve. But mostly they are not at all interchangeable. Like a 012 or a 111 can never replace an 006 or 025.

Now when it comes to 006 or 025. As you can read from my table 006 exists in to versions with minor differences. That is why we have the FD 905 remark as it was changed in 5/1969. Now remember that 250 CE is a childhood experience with D-Jetronic. All ECUs 0280001002 were replaced in cars by 0280001004 or 0280001006. That was done automatically in field service and must have cost a fortune. You can therefore see these experience steps in 250 CE. Latest experience is used in ECU 0280001006 and MPS 0280100025.

Hi Dr-DJet,
Wow what an impressive story in your reply.

I have 2 pieces ECU 0 280 001 004 . One with nr RT 013368 (reserve)  and a RT 008061 (what is in the car) see below picture which i uploaded the 2 ECU's. The Car is from june 1970 (114.022.12.009435) but i am not sure if the motor 114.980.-12.003127 belongs to the car. I believe that the ECU 008061 originally belongs to my motor 114.980.-12.003127.

1) So with the above info can you confirm that the right MAP sensor for me is the 0 280 100 006 FD905 (so with extensions FD 905)
2) I have in my car the not corresponding 0 280 100 111 MAP Sensor and i have a not corresponding spare one 0 280 100 012. How to proceed can you help me to get the perfect one. I checked, with the help of your list, that my spare one the 0 280 100 012 is a type 2. Can you tune this one to make it a 0 280 100 006 FD905. Or do you have another proposal?

Best Greetings Marc.

Hi Marc,

why did you open your ECUs. Those little noses on ECU lid brake like glass. They also have a 3 digit stamp somewhere which tells FD (year of make).

FD 905 means all MPS produced after 69/05 . As your engine was never modified during production and MB used both MPS 006 and 025 with 004 ECU on your car, you can use both MPS. Caution: This is not valid for other cars like MB 450 SL or BMW or Volkswagen... This statement is only valid for 250 CE with ECU 0280001004.

Most preferable version is ECU 0280001006 and MPS 0280100025 .

One cannot convert a MPS 012 into a 025 . Slopes are different.

Hi Dr-DJet

I have an ECU 0 280 001 004 and have now ordered a 0 280 100 025; hopefully, it is working as stated and that will resolve my issues.

As for the injectors, I had managed to get three genuine used 0 280 0150 023 injectors and was looking for another three without paying ridiculous money.

On advice from someone who bought and is happy with aftermarket Defus injectors, I did buy those which are currently installed so that could well be my issue.

So need to find another three genuine injectors and get them all refurbished.

Thanks, Damion
