Non Starting.

Hi Norbert ,How can my ignition switch be tested for being faulty ? Could I test the cable to the fuel pump fuse and to ground with the ignition on .? This fuse is part of the main fuse board. With a test light. I'm suspecting the problem is intermittent, as after sometimes the pump activates. Also I've not seen that my electric aerial does not come up when I turn on the ignition ,whether this is the ignition switch or the aerial at fault !. Regards Nigel

Hi Nigel,
the aerial is normally activated by the radio, not by the ignition switch.
Maybe the radio itself is powered by ignition switch...
The fuel pump relay gets the power from fuse 7 (coupé) or fuse 11 (sedan).
You should check the voltage there.

Hi Norbert ,Thank you.Yes my saloon pump fuse is number 12,This also oil light ,fuel gauge,rev counter, temp gauge fuel tank hand brake etc.These do come on with ignition.( always) Is there a part of the switch ,which separately supplies feed to this fuse to power the pump? I will try voltage tomorrow as its too cold now.Regards Nigel.

I don't have electrical schematics for the whole car.
You had to find it out there - but I don't think the pump-relay is connected by a separate contact.
In my D-Jetronic-manual, edited by Bosch, the pump <relay> is connected to fuse 11. Maybe this is different at RHD cars??

Hi Norbert, After lots of testing I've found that my original ECU is no longer turning on the fuel pump.I now have my spare ECU which is working the pump.The car now starts but is running very rough like not on all cylinders and of course noisy which makes it hard to hear if all the injectors are working.It idles about 2500 revs and if I try the throttle it will rev but still runs rough..I did see you mention not to have the fuel rails zinc coated ,I did have mine done a few years ago .Do you think I might have some clogged injectors ? Not sure what to do next? Regards Nigel.
