Hi. Some latest updates. Pictures included.
AAV with filter off - sucks air in quite hard at the beggining when engine is cold, when engine temp gets up, idle rpm gets up as well. After 5-10min engine reaches 80° and aav still sucks air in, engine just revs and cannot hear the valve so well, but it feels like about the same when engine was cold, like still sucks air in quite hard. When I block the intake hole for aav, engine stops right away.
PS. Is this the right aav, as it looks different then others I have seen? (First picture)
Throttle body - No idle rpm changes with or without contact off. When adjusting throtlle valve min to max with the screw on the side, rpm drops for 2 seconds and goes back to high again. I have adjusted throttle valve like it almost sticks when closed, but it not sticks, I think it should be ok. But does it even works?
MAP sensor number on mine - 0 280 100 111
Any new ideas?
Regards
Lauris

Hi Lauris,
this is the right AAV. Should be overhauled and should have a new micro filter.

Hi Lauris,
you have to check the idle switch of the TPS, because you touched the throttle position screw.
The throttle position screw is fixed - once adjusted in the factory it was sealed and normally isn't touched anymore.
But you adjusted it correctly.
But maybe the switch is misadjusted now.
The idle is adjusted by giving extra air by turning the extra-air-screw counterclockwise.
Without <extra>air the engine can't run at idle.
When the AAV is bad, it gives much more air than the engine needs, the engine makes high revs, maybe the extra-air-screw was closed therefore.
Regards
Norbert

Hi Norbert,
before Lauris gets his AAV fixed, there is no need to adjust throttle switch and idle-run screw. It seems that his AAV is not only stuck but maybe even loose inside.

Hi, Norbert,
the throttle valve is been adjusted long before me, I do not remember anymore, but it was adjusted either to MIN or MAX position, I tried to get everything to nominal values. I believe it is no use to try fine tune it before aav sucks air in all the time, as already Volker mentioned it. That makes sense, because it is not the right amount of air engine gets. Right now throtlle valve and idle screw gives no changes at all how engine works, it just revs at about 1200-1400rpm at idle when hot. Thanks for advice, I will fine tune those things afterwards.
Volker, do you have any extra aav which is suitable for my car and which I could buy? An another day I was chatting with one w114 entusiast and he got overhauled his aav by some guy with good knowledges in Netherland. I got his e-mail and wondering ask you first, before searching somewhere else.
Have a nice weekend!
