Hello, i m Julian from Switzerland, west side (french speaking)
I have traveled the blog and its very teachfull!
We have got a BMW CSI from 1973 from a very best friend who own this car but doesnt have the skills to work on it!
We have fully rebuilt the engine and we had some difficulties to find spare parts.
We couldnt find new injectors as OEM and we found the model Beck Arnley 158-0438 on eBay.
The car started at the first quarter turn but the idle was to high! The engine is too rich also!
We had opened the map sensor because we thought about a leak from it but no leak but still rich. The diaphragm wasnt torn. So my colleague tried to adjust the screws but didnt sort out where the problem is because all the jetronic components have 50 years.
As we had so much difficulties to find parts, we thought about mountinv a programmable modern injection modul and could be cheaper ??!(might)
I know it would be not conservative for the car but its so difficult and expansive to get new parts, so we thought this solution.
I m writing to you because i found your blog very interesting and you made a incredible work!
What do you recommend for us? What could be the best or reliable solution???
Thanks very much in advance
Best regards
Julian

Hi Julian,
a high idle comes from air, not from D-Jetronic fuel injection. A rich mixture can only make engine run badly and therefore reduce rpm. So you must find out where your vacuum leak is on your rebuilt engine. We use foggers in our workshops to check for leaks on manifold injector sealings and vacuum hoses.
Your non OEM injectors are rubbish. But they are not the cause for the problems you mentioned. Try to find (used) blue Bosch injectors and get them cleaned if necessary. Any ASNU service can do that.
It was a very bad idea to open MAP sensor and detune it. Now you need someone to reseal and retune. On BMW it is important to pair MAP sensor and ECU correctly. You find that information in chapter 3 and 4 of my compendium.

Hi Volker,
thanks for your reply!
The first time we have start the car we had the idle to high (2000rpm) and when we disconnected the map sensor from intake manifold and close the manifold pipe, the idle was going down.
We have checked the OEM injectors from Bosch but they said they are out of order! Do you think it could be reconditionned??
Where can we get the ECU and map synchronised??
Thanks in advance
Julian
