Hi Rhys,

haven't heard of you recently, also no reply to my private message. I now have collected references for your 0 280 100 036 MAP sensor and can repair and tune it if you still need that. A reply would be nice whether you still need help.

Hi Rhys,

I must say that I find your sudden silence disappointing. We have done everything to find out that your MAP sensor was manipulated beyond repair, Finally others have supplied me with references for your MAP sensor and I have offered everything I could to help you here and via private message. Now ignoring this without any further reply is not what I consider a nice behaviour. :NO:

Fortunately most people are more thankful. Otherwise I would not feel motivated to offer such a service as this website and this forum.

Hi Volker,

Firstly - one thousand apologies. I am very grateful for all the assistance by yourself and others in the forum over an extended time.

Subsequent to driving the my SM (some months ago), I experienced some cooling issues with the SM engine (head gasket leaking) that had me park the thing in the corner and wait for parts, time and some new strength to persevere. EFI issues were put to the back of my mind . The two Chevrolet Corvairs, Amphicars, NSU Max & Prinz that I also maintain, took all my automotive mental space. (there is more - they just didn't need attention)

What has felt like weeks - has become months. No logging on to forums, means no private messages. I'll PM you with my e-mail address to ensure no repeat occurs.

Again - sorry for the offence.

Howdy Rhys,

this forum automatically forwards Private Messages to your email address when you are not logged in (at least a message saying that you got a message). So that is not a real excuse for not answering for 3.5 months.

You got free and quick response from us in this forum plus a lot of effort to find a reference for your MAP sensor by Hans, Christian and me even during my holidays in Sweden. Now don't tell me that you did not reply due to not being informed. Sorry, that is not true.

Hi Volker,

I don’t know what to say….I’ve tried to graciously apologise – but you don’t accept it.

Irrespective of what you might think, I’ve only ever received one e-mail notification of a PM from Old Timer tips which was from a PM from you on 6/11/2015. Despite no evidence in my inbox, perhaps one did arrive and it went to a junk folder or accidently got deleted with the 200 e-mails a day I’m obliged to delete in the course of the day. I don’t know.

Either way, the stakes here not high enough to justify me telling a silly story ….or any counter-accusation of lying from you. My car has been dormant and I hadn’t touched the EFI system for months.

If you choose to be hurt and think the worse – so be it. If you choose to accept the apology ….we move on

Xmas Eve 24.12. 11:17h and 12:25h informing you that I will get hold of a 0 280 100 036 MAP sensor for refernce measurement

Hi Rhys, Chris has several 036 MAP sensors and will send them to me for measurement. One of his is also opened like yours was. Now there is only two problems: 1. I am not at home from 28.12 to 10.1. maybe not such a bipg problem, as shipping from AUS will anyhow take time. So if your package arrive around 7. or 8., that would be okay. It will stay in post office for 1 week. 2. Customs in DE is a nightmare. So please declare a gift, defective and a value of 20€ . Hopefully that should make it pass through customs. Inside please put a letter that I shall adjust it and send it back to you. Now for preparation: If you could remove the new potting from your MAP sensor, that would be fine. I need to acccess the slotted screw underneath. After tuning it I will use a new bright yellow and non tranparent glue for potting. SImiliar to what Bosch uses nowadays. If you want to do the potting yourself, you can, but lease do not touch the screw at all. For my efforts I would charge my normal testing fee plus transport back to you. If that sounds okay to you, please let me knwo. BR, Volker

Wouldn't you be frustrated with someone for whom you have taken all efforts even on Xmas Eve and who suddenly does not reply after having asked help nearly every day? Stupid me, I felt guilty for going on vacation and not being able to help you during that time. In parallel I had asked for your reply inside the forum.
