Volker thanks for confirmation. I went to a jag breakers yesterday who had 6 of the 68 but none of the 63. I assume the 63 is the rarer one of the 2.

Is it ok to ask on this forum if anyone has one?
plan to do the same on the jaguar forums

Chris

Hi,

why buy a used one expensively where you do not know how long its diaphragm will last. Better to get yours overhauled and tuned with new diaphragm. So you really better go to Bosch and let them handle it. It is a pity that Brexit has made life more difficult. Bosch might charge addtl. for customs handling. But you have that same problem with anyone selling you a used MAP sensor from outside UK.

And before you throw away your old MAP sensor, I'd love to have one in my stock and can pay transport to you.

I contacted bosch who no longer will deal with an individual from the UK so you have to ship via a business / workshop. Post Brexit the shipper has to arrange all customs clearance etc so the 599 probably increases to circa 900 by the time you have paid everything (import duties, vat and freight fees).

Hi Chris,

Bosch does not deal with direct clients anywhere in the world. You always have to go to a local Bosch Classic workshop. But they get discounts to locally handle clients. At least that is what happens in Germany. And my price information on Jaguar MAP sensors is old.

Bosch should be able to import your MAP sensor to Germany, declare it properly to customs and declare export to UK again. UK will ask for increase in value due to repair and charge VAT and customs. Bosch Germany used to only charge an extended handling fee.

It was always clear that there would be a price tag on Brexit - I am afraid.

Hi Volker.
I am still struggling to locate the Map sensor 028010063 but plan to continue to search and try the international jaguar spares show next month, if i dont locate one by then i will have to go to Bosch and get the original unit repaired.

To get me mobile over the next 3 months a friend has offered me a spare (old part new) 028010068 sensor used on later engine numbers until i find the correct one, but I am unsure what impact this will have or if it will work with the earlier ECU (Lucas 3CU 83356A) that was originally paired to the 63 sensor.
Will the earlier Lucas 83356a ECU work with the 68 sensor (earlier ecu to later sensor)?

If not, he also has the ECU 83477B so i could update the ECU and the sensor which are compatible - I am assuming the later Ecu and later Map sensor will still work with the rest of the earlier d-jetronic components?

Any thoughts would be appreciated, just looking for options to try and get mobile.

Best Regards

Chris
