Hello all, I am Sergio from The Netherlands and found this website because I wanted to know more about the D-Jet.
I have a 1974 w116 280SE deep blue 920. that needs a lot of TLC. Although it runs fine on petrol and lpg, I like to understand the things to look for on the, for many people, D-Jetronic system when a problem occurs.
I bought my car in the south of France in Cannes and drove it back home, 1300 km, to Geldrop in The Netherlands. Best testdrive ever. On the way I got convinced it was a good basis for many years of pleasure, but ofcourse needed a lot of work.
All rubber bushings on the front-axle needed to be replaced. The front-axle and steeringrods are all replaced, only thing is the steeringbox that still has some play, but I can live with that for now. New stabilizers on the back, fully new brakes on the back, new brakepads on the front. I have new shockers for front and back ready for install, but is not immediately needed.
The interior is MB-tex in beige code 167, and is pretty much in tact. Only the rear headrests are bad, the rest is just 40 years dirty. I took everything out of the car for cleaning including all roof and doorpanels. At the moment, while everything is out of the car, I amm busy with the powerwindows, repairing and making free of weird noises. Also the central-locksystem is now open for repairs. All elements are dried and rubbers of those are gone.
As you will understand, still a long way to go, but having fun and driving the car a few times a week with pleasure.

Kind Regards, Sergio

Dear Sergio,

you are welcome :cheer:

I appreciate your introduction very much. It is always a motivation for me to see that people come here to read and understand. It is a pity that so few people introduce themselves. Many thanks for your introduction!

Viele Schraubergrüße - best regards, Dr-DJet Volker

Hallo Volker,

It's the least I could do.
Your section on the D-Jet is mindblowing and done so well. I cant see any problem on the D-Jet not getting fixed and tested with your explanations and checklist.

Kind Regards, Sergio

PS: I read German very easy most of the times, but to write it is another story.
