Hi All,

Is the Bosch part 0 290 800 019 with 2.2 µF interference suppression capacitor still necessary nowadays?
Its located between pin nr 1 of my ignition coil and car-frame.
pls Have a look at the below picture

Thanks in advance,

Greetings Marc

Hi Marc,
I wouldn't remove it.
I just saw a technical information (from Opel) about adding a capacitator to the wiper motor that could disturb the D-Jetronic.

Hi Christian,

Same question but now for my alternator.

Is it still needed today? and is it also for getting a better radio signal?

Thanks Norbert,

Unfortunately i can not find fast the uF specification of the kondensator part nr 1784150 that is mentioned in the article on the monza-senator website. And compare it with the one that is used on my ignition coil and alternator. But when you go to this website:

www.matzautoteile.de/9887-entstorkondensator.html

There it is mentioned: Entstörkondensator für Bosch - Lichtmaschine - diverse Opel Fahrzeuge. So besides a kondensator for "Scheibenwischermotors Opel is using it also for a alternator "Lichtmachine". But it does not say "Entstörung" for what for this partnumber 1784150

But when you go to the same site at: www.matzautoteile.de/18526-entstorkondensator.html there is another kondensator mentioned and that one is for.... Radioentstörung

Do you know how close in centimeters the ECU of Admiral-B Diplomat-B is to the "Scheibenwischermotor". I can imagine that there is a relation to the distance?

Hi Marc,
the wiper motor is localized on the left side in front of the firewall, the ECU on the right, behind the firewall.

The problem was an electrical distortion / impulse from the wiper motor that is very special because it has to run to an end position after switching off and therefore has to change the motor's operating direction. This is realized by an internal electrical switch.
I think, the problem described in the 'TI' occured and the engineers simply tried to reduce the impulse by adding a condensator and this was effective. In those times 'try and error' was usual and one could find condensators at positions you never had thought they were neccessary... my car has one at the trunk-light. Saw them at the plastic hood that covers the distributor cap and so on.

I think, there was a reason to install them...
They reduce disturbances - it doesn't matter if these disturbed the radio or the ECU or...

Hi Norbert,

Thank you for your detailed reply.
Everything you’ve written makes sense—especially the trial-and-error aspect.

To add to this thread with respect to your text... could find condensators at positions you never had thought they were neccessary
The link I shared above and here again below    indicates that there is also a capacitor placed  for a  "Brake light switch" – Opel Corsa A – Opel Monza – Senator A
