Hi, 
my car is mercedes w114 280E  I guess I didn't understand what I wrote the other day, so I'll write it again.  The part marked in the picture is not in my distributor.  Green cable is coming.  It attaches to the edge of the distributor.  Is it okay to just not have that?Thanks for answer.

it is even better not to have that capacitor when your have transistorized contact controlled ignition. But the green cable from distributor to ignition module should then be a shielded one to avoid radio interference.

Capacitor was needed on older contact based ignition without tranistor. It would avoid that contact would burn down too fast.
