Hi All
I have a 450SL Djet
with some issues on injection/ignition
now I find on the lower side of the bellow that feeds the ignition vacuum line a T coupling with only 2 sides connected
should it be open like this?

Hi Kees,
please sign your threads so that everyone can reply to you personally as is our usual manner here.
What I can see is an exhaust recirculation valve. So it must be a US car. You must have a sticker on your car that describes your emission control system. That would show how your vacuum lines are connected. This is very much related to year of make and USA Fed or California version.
It is not a D-Jetronic or ignition issue.
You can see a sample of such a sticker in 107 SL workshop manual unter 1975 emission control chapter 14-001 .

Hi Volker
Thanks
Yes it is a USA car
I am afraid the sticker did not survive the tooth of time so bot sure of any of the vacuum or the ignition advance system is working at all.
Will drive it to Erlangen so we can have a look at it and see if this is a solvable mystery
Looking forward

Hi,
as every USA Model Year is different, it would be clever if you would tell us when your car was built !

Hi Kees,
what is your VIN ? Might help to narrow down year of make.
