Hi Dr. D-Jet,

Greetings from SC, USA!  You have a fantastic website; it is a great resource! Thank you for sharing your extensive research!

I have a 1971 Volvo 1800E (184353-035572), but many of the D-Jet fuel injection components have been replaced and are not original to this model.

My B20E engine has a thermal timer added to conrol the cold start valve.
My ECU is a Bosch 0 280 000 034, which I believe is the correct version to use with the thermal timer.
My manifold pressure sensor is Bosch 0 280 100 001, which I see from your site was used on a VW Type 3. The tamper proof screw is intact.
My throttle position switch is Bosch 0 280 120 039.

Do you know if the pressure sensor used in the VW is compatible with the Volvo ECU?  I am not experiencing any obvious issues, but could this lead to other less noticeable issues?

Thanks for your assistance!

Hi Unknown, would be great to greet you with your name if I knew it...

No you cannot combine the 0 280 100 001 with your ECU. Possible compatible ECU / MAP sensor combinations are in chapter 3 and 4. 0 280 000 034 does not do electronic thermo time switch. You need external thermo time switch. And you need 0 280 100 035 MAP sensor for US engine. If you cannot find, let me know. I am not sure I have that one in my drawers. I would have to search.

Vielen Dank for the fast reply! I do already have the external thermo time switch installed. I will start the search for a good working 0 280 100 035 MAP sensor. Thanks again for the assistance!

Regards, Jeff

Hello Dr. D-Jet,

Is the 0 280 100 035 MAP sensor specific to the B20F engine? I have a B20E, but many of my D-Jet components have been swapped out with parts from later models. My ECU is 0 280 000 034. Could you please advise whether 015 MAP sensor or 035 MAP sensor would be a better fit?

Thanks again,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I cannot argue on B20 E or F engine. I do not know the Volvo engine mechanic details well enough.

Hi Jeff,
are you sure you have the B20E with higher compression? The european engine?
Here is, where I found information about the B20E / B20F : oldtimer-foren.de/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=22926
I think, a page translator could help you.

As I saw there, there are different camshafts: automatic /hand-shifted are different.

I think, for the B20E the 0 280 100 015 would be the correct fit.

But, you will have the problem with the insufficiant octane in the fuel: The european engine was built for at least 98-octane.
We had the problems here with motor-ringing many years before when the leaded-fuels were not sold anymore, but can buy fuel with more than 100-octane here nowadays.

I hope, @Jörg takes notice of your problem soon, he has better knowledge than I can find in the web.
Or: send him a P.M.

Regards
Norbert
