Wiring and MPS was created by Jasper
I’m in the process of overhauling the injection system on a BMW 3.0 CSI, and have encountered two problems so far. One: The wiring harness is very sad, so I’m building a new one from scratch using diagrams and the old harness as a template. Only problem is the availability of the ECU connectors. Are there any alternatives or do I delicately take them apart and solder in new wires? Two: The MPS is wrong. It’s Bosch no. is 0 280 100 012, but should be no. 0 280 100 030. It holds vacuum and resistance checks out ok. What is the best way about getting a correct working one?

Hi Jasper,
Welcome to the forum!
The main problem's solution starts before finding the correct MPS- you have to find out which version you need. There are different versions, same #, depending on the ECU version installed to your car.
You have to identify the ECU at first, using the information here: jetronic.org/en/d-jetronic/ecu#Liste
You will notice there are color marks and / or 'FD- numbers' (the production date).
Then you can find out the MPS that fits your car at the same place.
The good news is the ECU connectors are available.
Read this and you can find out where you can buy them: jetronic.org/en/d-jetronic/wiring-harness
Regards
Norbert

Hi Jasper,
we could consider to swap 012 against 030 .

Thank you very much. A swap would be very welcome.
The ECU is Bosch numbered 0 280 001 007. So far so good. I'll look for color markings and/or production dates when I get back to the shop tomorrow.
How much for 24 new connectors?
/Jasper

ECU has markings RT 331 on it as well as a worn red paper dot. So November’73, right?

Hi Jasper,
correct and for that you would use a green SDF. Green means lead reduced for red ECUs. While red MPS are for fully leaded fuel. BMW was the only one who made such a difference.

So, Herr Doktor, how does one go about swapping an MPS-sensor for a correct one, and simultaneously purchasing 24 ECU contacts?
