Hi everyone,
today I had some problems with my W116 280SE (injection D-jetronic). When the engine is warm, it doesn't hold idle anymore. Is this a problem that can be fixed by adjusting the auxiliary air valve? Thanks to all

Hi Unknown,
you can adjust idle of warm engine via idle-screw. AAV only makes additional rpm in cold - if everything works fine.

Hallo Dr-Djet, ich bin der Claudio aus Italien.
had already introduced myself in the "newcomers" section.
Unfortunately, my W116 280SE seems to have a lean too rich ... and this creates problems at idle when the engine is hot ... I have to figure out how to solve, because having the manual transmission I can not brake and hold the accelerator down to raise the engine speed ...it's pretty dangerous.

Hi,
so I understand that you could not raise idle via idle screw. You now tell us that it is a matter of wrong mixture. Lean or rich? ANd how do you know? Did you measure fuel pressure and check ignition timing?

hi Volker,
when the engine is warm and when idling, it tends to shut down. The mechanic who sold me the car has traveled 300km from Milan to my home on the Highway at 160km/h, he had no problem, but a fairly high consumption. The next day I drove the car to my garage, which is located in a valley in the mountains at 1000 meters above sea level..and already on the way there, it was giving me problems when I was in traffic at idle speed...the engine simply turned off. I was thinking of adjusting the idle speed screw, but as I am not a mechanic, I don't want to do any bullshit....
Would you recommend that I start adjusting that?
As soon as I improve my German I will try to write in German...at the moment if it is not a problem...I write in English

Hi,
there is no need to write in German, we understand English very well.
You can adjust idle speed via screw. But you must also measure dwell, ignition timing and exhaust gas. Or you find a workshop to do that for you.
