Hi Unknown,
I have moved this post to a new thread as things are quite different on Volvo 164 E 3.0 .
Depending on year of make you do have an electrically operatied auxiliary air valve 0 280 140 201. Bosch claims that to have been introduced in 5/74. Before that you have a water temperature based AAV 0 280 140 031 or 0 280 140 021. I have checked whether the B30 engine can also have the well known P1800E problem with early engines without thermo time switch where only early ECUs have the electronic thermo time switch. But this feature never existed in B30 engine.
Your AAV - whether water temp based or electrical - should increase idle-speed during cold-run. YOu should give more detail here.

Hello Robban
good morning.
The problem I had was that the engine started but only with 6 cylinders ( and not always as the problem was intermittent )
Since my car suffered from a long list of problems, many jobs have been carried out; now problem seems to be solved but now it suffer of unstable high idle with engine cold ( probably the AAV must be replaced )
Following the list of jobs I've done in these months :
Test and cleaning of all the injectors ( since the fuel delivery was unconstant between each other and also one appears to be blocked now and then )
Replacing of the spark plugs, wire, caps and rotor
Replacing air filter
Test of the cold valve start
Test of the fuel pressure
Checking for air leak
Checking of the resistance between each component and the ECU plug as per Volker check list ( thanks Volker !! )
Since I replaced all the connectors and boots of the engine wiring, I assumed that they are ok.
The only one I didn't change is the connector between the distributor and the main wiring; I cleaned it with contact cleaner and now seems to be fine.
My suspect is that at some point, the contact between the distributor cable and the engine wiring wasn't ok so that the injectors didn't receive the correct signal to spray fuel
I hope that my experience will help you
Best regards
Alessandro

Ok thanks,i have 123 ignition, cleaned all injectors, air valve new, checked pressure 2,2,changed cold start injector, ,valves checked, air leaks checked tried a new ecu box,but same problem i have not changed thermo time switch .My car start easy
but when i put little pressure on the gas pedal it will stalls but if i rev it up its stay on and after 3 to 4 min it runs,so i think i will change my d Jetronic to a maxxecu
or Megasquirt .Regards Robert

Hi Robert,
have you ever measured exhaust gas on your car? What you describe sounds like a bad fuel mixture. I would be surprised if that only happens during cold start until you have warm engine. If exhaust on warm engine is okay and only wrong in cold run, you should check engine temp sensor reistance on ECU connector with ECU removed in cold temp.

Yes i have measured the exhaust and its fine,i will check the resistance again on temp sensor but could it be my tps thats worn out i can hear 18 click but when i press my gas pedal it will not run smooth between 1000-1500 rpm and it will not run smooth in 60-70 km/h but over it runs fine
