W114 280E new wiring harness was created by lsmoz
Hello Volker,
How are you, I have asked questions on this forum before but a long time ago,
I have received a quotation for a new D-jet wiring harness from kabelbaueme. The price is reasonable.
My question is, do you have experience with products from this supplier, can you recommend them?
Also, I assume RHD and LHD are the same?
My car is running well, but the wires are old and stiff and some connectors are breaking up, particularly the engine temperature sensor.
Regards,
Lance Smart.

Hi Lance,

I am sorry, I do not know this supplier and cannot comment. Wiring harness for left hand and right hand steering is different.

Hi Lance,
an Opel (the harnesses are quite similar...) guy just bought a reproduced harness with misfitting connectors
<from another professional supplier>.
The AMP cable shoes 2,8 mm have to have a thickness of only 0.5 mm, not of 0,8 mm as the harness he received had.

He luckily noticed the problem, could have meant a lot of trouble... and got a refund by the company later.

But the supplier knows the problem now, and the harness was of good quality besides the problem described above,

The guy had to pay 440.-€, shipment inside of Germany included. I thing, the price is o.k.

He had to send in an old harness, some parts like the ECU-connector were reused to build the new one.

I could tell you the name of the company if you are interested.

I don*t know 'kabelbaeume', too.

Regards
Norbert

Volker, do you know what the difference is between RHD and LHD, is it the location of the ECU?

Hi Lance,

difference can be ECU, MAP sensor, fuses box etc.

Thanks for the PM, Norbert,
Thanks for the information Volker, I have thought of making one myself, I might have to go that way as German suppliers will only be familiar with LHD. There is a lot of information on this and other websites.
Regards,
Lance.

Hi Lance,

another company: www.kurth-classics-autoparts.de/de/kabel...lbaum-m116-m117.html

Generally, this company is well known in the classics community. But I have no experience with their wiring harness fabrication.

Regarding LHD and RHD, I would not expect any problem because in any case you have to send them your old wiring harness and than they will produce a copy of that.

Best regards,
Recardo
