Fuel pumps for D-jet was created by Achab90
Hi all-
First of all, thank you for accepting me. I own a beautiful w114 1972 250CE.
I recently had a problem with my original fuel pump (I understand it to be BOSCH 0580 464 005) and my garage specialist suggested using the BOSCH 0580 464 999 instead. My search through the internet says that the 999 had replaced the 005, and that both are for the part 001 091 71 01 anyways. Has anyone ever come across this predicament before? Would appreciate if 999 is ok with the 114.980 engine of my 250CE.
Regards,
Archie

Hi Archie,
I personally do not recommend that pump. Please read jetronic.org/en/d-jetronic/fuel-pump#PumpeFalsch for my recommendation.

Hi Dr D-jet
I greatly appreciate the quick reply. I looked at the MB components list in your Appendix A and it stated that for my 1972 250CE (>Oct 1970), the correct BOSCH number should be 0580 464 005 to replace the 001 091 71 01 fuel pump. Now, does the 0580 464 005 fuel pump have around 2-3 bar operating pressure and can it be used instead if I find a good one on Ebay? I am exploring other possibilities before going to Pierburg 7.21287.53.0 as you have suggested.
Regards
Archie

Hi Archie,
the Bosch 0 580 464 005 is preferable and it has a hydraulic shortcut to avoid pressures above 3 bar. But it is not available as new. That is why I named a Bosch and a Pierbug alternative.

Hi Dr D-Jet
I'm about to purchase the fuel pump now. Why does the BOSCH alternative require mounting and 2 copper rings, but the Pierburg does not?
