Good evening Dear Volker & forum members,

I have to compliment you for a very informative and interesting website. A fellow Dane recommended your website to me due to an unfortunate problem I presently have with the D-Jet system on my Volvo 1800ES. As it turned out it appears to be the MAP sensor and I understand that you can facilitate a repair? If so I would be very interested to get in contact with you to explain in more detail.

Good morning Levin (?),

welcome on jetronic.org from Dr-DJet ! Yes I can repair these beasts and yes they usually fail with a broken diaphragm and leak vacuum. I made a video in MAP sensr test that shows how to measure vacuum leaks. And if potting has been opened or srews than it might be also detuned. Please check those issues. It will help you ti understand whether your MAP sensor is really broken.

Dear Volker,

Many thanks. On mine the potting appears to have been removed at some stage (the car was completely restored in the US in 2005 and I suspect it may be in that connection). The housing however is still with what appear to be the original rivets. I have read your interesting articles and also watched the videos of the testing. On this basis and with the recommendation of a Volvo friend I brought the MAP to the local Bosch Autoelektro shop to test the vacum up to 0,5 bar. They could almost not even manage to suck 0,5 bar as it was leaking too much! I'm quite sure this is the major reason for the troubles I have suddenly encountered.

Can you advise me how/where to send the MAP to you, how much time you need to refurbish the unit and send it back -and of course how to pay you.
