1975 BMW 3.0 csi runs fine except it hesitates when running , as though a switch is being turned on/off. Happens only occasionally. New throttle switch, rebuilt MAP, new injectors, new pressure regulator, ignition is electronic (crane X R 700 ). Wonder if the trigger points are bad (although recently cleaned and regreased) Points are very difficult to find for BMW in US , can Volvo/Porsche/VW points be used if I can find them? Thanks for any help.

Hi Unknown,
it would be great if you could sign with your firstname as we are used to greeting each other.
There is no such thing as a BMW 3.0 CSi D-Jetronic for US market. They only started with L-Jetronic. But anyhow. There are a number of possible causes. Have you measured and adjusted fuel pressure? Have you tested for vacuum leaks? Was MAP sensor adjustment done properly by Bosch itself? Have you removed throttle switch connector and tested? Did you get your injectors checked?
All these issues I would check before I suspect trigger contacts. They are more likely to cause total failure. Volkswagen/Porsche 914 do not fit. All others fit. Trigger contacts can be readjusted or reworked with new cams.

Thanks Volker. I am sorry about signing in, I thought it was fixed. I will add my name (Bill). You are correct there are no US 3.0 csi, however, a few came through grey market channels especially from Italy and Canada. My coupe was sold to an American who exported it to the US in 1975.
I would be interested in having my trigger points rebuilt if possible. Can you advise how I can do that?
I have checked/replaced all the items you suggested including the MAP (rebuilt and adjusted myself) and am pretty sure my points are bad. I rigged up a switch so I could momentarily disconnect wire 22 disabling one of the points and was able to replicate the hesitation exactly so I am focusing on the points.
Thank you for your patience. Bill

Hi Bill,
I am very doubtful that you did a correct job with your MAP sensor. Which color version is your ECU and which version did you create on your MAP sensor.
I am pretty sure that your problem does not come from trigger points. Please check what I proposed first.
